Newton Hurricanes Help Haiti
Newton School fifth graders coordinated a school-wide fundraiser to assist the tiny island of Haiti in the aftermath of massive devastation from the recent earthquake. They felt it was important to "link" together Newton Hurricanes with Haiti and so they sold paper chains for 25 cents each with a goal to link chains long enough to reach throughout the entire school to show their united commitment. With a lofty goal in mind, students and employees did in fact link together and have reached their goal! Blue and green paper chains are proudly displayed throughout each hall. Students raised over $1000 that will be donated to the American Red Cross for the Haiti Relief Efforts. Pictured with principal Suellen Brazil are students from our fifth grade classes.
