NEWTON SCHOOL HOLDS SPRING FUNDRAISER

The Spring Gulf Coast Savings Books are now for sale!

Students at JL Newton School will be selling the new Gulf Coast Savings Books and Taste of Excellence discount books now through March 9.

The Gulf Coast Savings Book is valued at over $1,000 in savings and is filled with over 170 local discount offers, most of which are "Buy 1, Get 1 Free".   Just a few of the participating restaurants and businesses include Wintzell's, Old Bay Steamer, Mary Ann's, Mr. Gene's Beans, Planet Smoothie and a new addition to the book is The Original Oyster House.  These new Spring/Summer Gulf Coast Savings Books sell for $12 each and the offers are valid through October 1, 2010.  Click here to see the list of restaurants included in the Coupon Book this year!

As an addition to the spring fundraiser, the Newton students will also be offering the popular Taste of Excellence discount books that include offers to fine dining restaurants in Baldwin, Mobile, Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton Counties.  All discounts in the Taste of Excellence book are $20 to $32 off two dinners.  At a purchase price of just $20, this book pays for itself with just one use!  Just a few of the restaurants participating this year are The Wash House, Jesse's, the Restaurant at The Beach Club, Nix @ The Beach, Café' Grazie and Ruth's Chris.  A complete list can be viewed at http://www.fundrays.com/productscouponbooks.htm#couponbooks.

This spring fundraiser is hosted by Newton's PTO and all proceeds will go toward school supplies and instruction.  "Our goal is to make a profit of at least $5,000 so we can better help support our school", said Marla Warner, the VP of Fundraising for the Newton PTO.  "Our schools need all the financial support they can get during these tough times and the PTO and students are working hard to raise additional funds to help fill a few of the needs", stated Warner.

The spring fundraiser began Monday, September 22, after students attended a school wide rally to learn about the sale and incentives for participating.  Students will be rewarded with different prizes, such as a super pump rocket, inflatable target toss game or even a new Razor scooter as they reach certain sales levels.  There will be prizes awarded to the top sellers, top selling class and class with the most participation, as well.  "Fundraisers such as these not only raise money for the school, but allow students the opportunity to learn about salesmanship, setting and achieving goals and general business strategies", stated Warner.  The sale will end on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 and all books should be delivered to purchasers by the students within a few days thereafter.

For persons that may not know a current Newton student, but are interested in purchasing either the Gulf Coast Savings Book or Taste of Excellence discount book, they are available for sale at the Newton School through March 9.  Please contact the Newton School office at 990-3858.
